Cross The RimGerry is a former high school teacher of advanced mathematics, with a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Arizona State University, having taught in the Phoenix area for more that 26 years. He moved to Arizona at age 10 and has always had an interest in art and capturing the desert terrain of the southwest, on canvas.

National exposure includes his exhibition in the prestigious May Gallery's Scottsdale Celebration of Fine Art, and his selection as a featured artist in Southwest Art Magazine's "Emerging Artists." Gerry was also selected as a featured artist in Artists of Arizona Magazine and in Art of the West Magazine's "Guidebook of Western Artists." His newest painting, "He Loves Bikers" is featured in Thunder Press, the official publication for American motorcycle enthusiasts.

Gerry is primarily a self-taught artist. He recently developed a process he calls "Arizona Landscape Relief" in which each painting is sketched on canvas and then five layers of texture medium is applied and shaped with a palette knife. After each layer has been allowed to dry, up to ten coats of oils in brilliant cadmium and titanium colors are applied over the texture medium, giving a raised, realistic surface to touch with a three-dimensional effect. The landscapes look like they are alive and could literally jump out of the canvas. He also started a new line of prints in various sizes and subject matter. Each print is matted in rich, complimentary colors and then individually hand-embellished in watercolor on the mat for a beautiful "3-D" effect when framed with glass, making each of them "one of a kind." The price range of Gerry's work can accommodate any buyer of art!
